The Short Story Brasserie Wins Top Honors at Granville Culinary Festival

The Short Story Brasserie won the Best Entrée category at the Granville Rotary Club’s eighth annual Granville Culinary Festival that was held on January 25th, 2009 at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio.  More than a dozen top chefs and restaurants from central Ohio participated in the festival including The Longaberger Company, Granville Inn and The Cherry Valley Lodge.

Executive Chef Chad Lavely prepared the Wild Mushroom “Chicken and Dumplings” that are available as a hot small plate in the restaurant’s current menu.  The Dirty Little Secrets truffles were also presented in the Desert Category and were very well received by the attendees.

We’re excited to annouce that Columbus Monthly magazine has found The Short Story Brasserie to be one of the Best New Restaurants in Columbus.   They found our menu to be “lively, well executed” and that we give, “serious attention to the wine list.”

Saint Valentines Day Menu Announced

The Short Story Brasserie announces its special pre fixe menu for Valentine’s Day weekend on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th.  Executive Chef Chad Lavely has prepared a four course menu that will make for an unforgettable Valentine’s evening.  The Valentine’s Day pre fixe menu is $55 per person with an optional paired wine package for an additional $20 per person.

For New Year’s Eve Executive Chef Chad Lavely has created an amazing five course fixed price menu to celebrate the start of 2009.  The fixed price menu is $75 per person and wine pairings are available with each course for an additional $25 per person.  Please call for reservations at 740-587-0281, credit card required.  Cancellations made within 48 hours will be charged 50%.

The Short Story Brasserie Announces its Fall Menu

The Short Story Brasserie announces its first major seasonal change to the menu.  Executive Chef Chad Lavely says, “It’s a small menu that delivers big on its variety and flavor.  We are excited to share such a variety of flavor experiences with our guests.”   The new menu continues the restaurant’s goal of sharing the diversity of food styles experienced by Hemingway in his travels. 

Examples of new dishes that showcase this diversity are:

  • Saffron Scented Mussel Soup
  • Short Stack of Spicy Tuna Tartar, Nishiki Rice and Mountain Vegetable Salad
  • African Berbere Spice Rubbed Filet of Beef with Scalloped Yams and Plantains
